Does Eeyore suffer from depression?
I wonder if Eeyore suffers from depression since he is so sad all the time and I figured that since it is a kid's film, Disney won't want character that are so grim.

shareI don't think he's depressed, just cynical. There are loads of people walking around just as gloomy as Eeyore and they do not suffer from any medical conditions.
shareI love Eeyore! He's like my mascot, because I'm pretty cynical and misanthropic. He did always strike me as a bit depressed possibly, but not in a suicidal way or anything. I do think that if AA Milne were alive today though, he might get some (unfair!) flak for creating a character who might be clinical.

Actually, it's long been suggested that pretty much all of the characters in Winnie the Pooh illustrate different mental disorders.
Common suggestions (as illustrated in a well-known piece of web animation - see http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2011/02/17/winnie-the-pooh-demonstra tes-mental-disorders/) are:
Christopher Robin: Schizophrenia;
Eeyore: Drepression
Owl: Narcissism;
Piglet: Anxiety;
Rabbit: OCD;
Tigger: ADHD; and
Winnie the Pooh: Eating Disorder (brought on by low self-esteem)
There's even been an article in the Canadian Medical Association Journal about it...

Indeed. In fact, in response to the OP, Eeyore was famously "diagnosed" a few years ago as having chronic depression. One of those Yahoo News clips.
