It's not Pooh, it's Potter. Disney knowingly released this at the same time as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, and everyone knew HP would be a giant success. I still have no idea why they would willingly do that. :/

I have to agree with the original poster's assertion that Pooh is considered "babyish" by many people. I don't think Pooh is "babyish", and I absolutely loved this movie. But many people think he is. I remember being in 2nd grade and seeing a girl get teased because she had a Pooh backpack. And I've seen 7-year-olds who think anything that isn't at least PG-13 is "babyish". So, unfortunately, many people (even kids who might see other animated movies) will write off Pooh as "only for babies." And movies that are considered "only for babies" never make too much money.
Part of this is Disney's fault. The last few Pooh TV shows have been aimed at very little kids (especially the CGI one where they talk to the audience). Most Pooh merchandise is aimed at the preschool crowd. And the last couple of Pooh movies (before this one) definately seemed to be aimed at a younger crowd. After all these years of saying "Pooh is only for preschoolers", it's going to take more than a few ads with nostalgic music playing to get Winnie The Pooh to appeal to a larger audience.
Exactly. I don't think Pooh is babyish. But, that's kind of how he's marketed. My brother, who's 7, didn't want to see this...because he said it was for babies, for instance. I feel like most of this movies audience were nostalgic kids.

The "not knot" exchange was brilliant. Most kids who "outgrow' something in their age group do so because their parents or other parents yank them out of it. Pooh is timeless and ageless like "The Wizard of Oz"
And 2D animation is KING!
The rest of that crap can burn for all I care. In fact, I was really hoping for the incinerator to do its job in "Toy Story 3" which not only would have been a poignant and moving ending for the franchise, but a suitable, representational demise to the genre as a whole.

I LOVED that it was 2D animation. My son is 7 and wanted to see this, but his friend didn't. My son will give anything that is a cartoon a chance. I was cracking up at the knot, not thing and the sneeze mix up. Then when Owl was in the hole, I was like wait...what?? why doesn't he fly out? then he did, and went back in and that whole thing was hilarious. Then the fact that he had eeyore's tail the entire time and didn't know it, classic.

I am definitely not a baby and agree that these films are very poorly marketed. Pooh and the other characters are timeless and should never be put into one particular age category. They should be promoted as universal for all ages.

WOW! The last post (before this one I'm posting now) on this thread was written in APRIL 2012, just ONE YEAR BEFORE(!!!) Dirty Ass Lasseter killed 2d animation altogether at his own selfish pro-CG-BIASSED way!!! CLEARLY this film was nothing more than a mere pawn against the art form. WHY ELSE would it have not only been a character who's been considered VERY babyish (I, myself, haven't liked the character since 2002 or so) but release it opposite "Harry Potter"'s grand finale???? Sneaky, Viper (I mean, Lasseter...)
P.S. In case you haven't figured it out, I HATE John Lasseter and see him clearly now as the Ultimate Anti-(Walt) Disney. I'd fücking KILL the Fat Man with pleasure if it meant getting back what once was ours (and, again, WALT'S) for that matter!
p.p.s. Unlike "Winnie the SCAPEGOAT" here, the previous Disney 2d effort "The Princess and the Frog" was AMAZING!!! It alone kicked the @ss of not only "Sh!t Bear" but also "FROZEN" (by a fücking longshot!), "Wreck-it Ralph", "Big Hero 6", "Zootopia" AND "Tangled"; BASICALLY EVERYTHING MADE SINCE "Princess and Frog"!!! Suck on that, J. "lASSetter" (as my dear friend, zakima2 once called him out as, which subsequently opened my eyes to how evil a Fat Bastard can be...
Yep. I have a hard time being interested in animated films in general since 2D animation is toast.

I was being sincere. I'm not really into 3D animated films at this point. I'm basically done with animated films since we aren't getting anymore 2D animated films.
