Anyone know what the last thread/post was on the old boards?

I hope it was poetic, profound and perfect - Just like Prometheus.

reply

The first thread that says '20+ days ago'.

reply

Whenever the data was mined it wasn't on the last day. There are replies missing from those threads which were up and in existence prior to the IMDb boards closing.

reply

I think it was something about scourging.

reply

This scourging thing is going to be your gimmick isn't it?

reply

A lot of people need scourging.

reply

Any particular groups you think should be scourged?

reply

I dunno, just people who need to be scourged.

reply

How do you identify people who need to be scourged?

reply

You just know it. How can you not know Emma Watson or Miley Cyrus need to be scourged?

reply

I'm not a fan of either but I don't think they need to be scourged for anything they've done.

reply

They definitely need scourging.

reply

I still need a qualifier as to how you identify people who need scourging.

reply

Its not something you learn overnight. It takes years to master the art knowing who needs scourging.

reply

I appreciate that it may not be something which can be acquired overnight however there has to be metrics with which one can share with ones peers in the scourging community as to the refinement of techniques and those who they should be applied to.

You wouldn't someone out there working from their own ignorant volition would you?

reply

If she's being a brat, she needs scourging.

reply

I think you are mistaking educating for punishing - don't worry, you're not alone in that assessment, there are many people out there who get paid to make that same mistake.

Dialogue and understanding psychology helps let that person educate themselves and acquire critical thinking skills.

Much more important that impotence self-flailing.

reply

True educating involves violent punishment to the brat.

Its very basic psychology, you find a brat and beat her with a whip until she becomes too scared to disobey you.

reply

Which implies a lack of trust already established within you.

I don't think you fully understand how this works...

reply

I totally understand how it works.

You put people in their place by whipping any and all resistance out of them. You break them down completely until they become little more than robots who will obey your every command.

reply

Whilst I enjoy the objectification of a willing participant I don't think you can just select people who you find are to your tastes and subject them to these treatments.

The social contract which allows you to speak as openly and as plainly as you do is supported by law and the law states that kidnapping and torture of people is illegal and punishable by prison time.

You are the law's brat and you know it.

reply

Nope, I have legal authority to scourge them.

These notifications are neat aren't they?

A pity I didn't get to see the goodbye thread, it was quite the gang to come and spy on over on the Prometheus boards.

I was only a lurker, after the shutdown of the boards I got the kick I needed to start writing my own thoughts and make sure the message boards here would be successful.

I have no idea who the batman dude is, I think the trending discussions banner brought them here rather than any wish to talk about the movie. I don't recall them but I wasn't always around to see who was posting on those crazy message boards.

There is some markup and some more being implemented as the site continues.

I think this place was thrown together as best it could be and is still cooking. I believe avatars, signatures and other features will be brought in to make it as user friendly and approachable as possible given time.

Yes, I see posts eventually being reduced to one word at a time when there is a long thread - I don't know how that works but I expect Jim (The administrator of the site) to get on top of that when he has free time.

Thank you for replying to me, you are like royalty from the old IMDB message boards.

I enjoyed reading lots of boards on IMDB but I'm posting here just now hoping to drum up support for this site so I can go back to casually reading it whilst at work.

I used to get quite the chortle out of the Prometheus boards - what a right old soap opera that place was, I hope it finds its way here.

I don't have a favourite film but I do like the idea behind Cast Away, a man who lives like clockwork and suddenly is thrown into a world which doesn't need it. Sad story by the end but it shows that hope can get us through anything. That's a happy note to take away from it.

What is your favourite film?

It made for good reading while on the backshift, I hope to see the whole show this time round if it happens.

I still have my doubts that they are not the same person. If they are they show inner conflict very well and if they are not they should get married - they are perfect for each other.

Plenty of other good people to read about posting on the IMDB boards though, maybe it is the time of night or some sense of paranoia (I work security) but the things I imagine going through people's heads as I read some of the stuff is really funny.

Might just be me though! (I think (utoh) was the coding of that yellow face).

Nice to see people trying to make this place work.

Hey, Wilson, let's keep this forum alive. We might have some fun here.

reply

I am more of a reader than a poster but I will try when I can.

Off to bed shortly.

reply

I think here looks great. I'm waiting for the energies to be back up so I can read the fun and games. Here and the sports message boards had the best conversations.

reply

AFAIK, Ray was the last one to post. A farewell thread. Also afaik, I was the last one to respond to it.

reply

I didn't know much about Ray, but people talked about him a lot and so it was good to get an idea of who he was before it all ended.

reply

I'm still catching up with the conversations here. Are you British? I think we may have exchanged a few messages on IMDb during the last FIFA World Cup. I remember that person mentioning they worked "crazy hours".

reply

I am English and very embarrassed about the last World Cup. The match times for us were very early but when I was on night shift I could watch them quite easily. I don't think I chatted from work then as I didn't know about the online keyboard website. I might have from home but it would not have been much.
