shareSigh! Because a certain kind of person EXISTS and you don't immediately damn them to hell does not mean you're "celebrating" them. I certainly wouldn't encourage anyone who ISN'T gay or transgendered to adopt such a "lifestyle", nor would the vast majority of people who are gay or transgendered.
There is a philosophy, very different from liberal "political correctness", called "live and let live". I don't necessarily approve of parents letting their 8-year-old experiment with gender roles, but then I also don't approve of "Christian" a**holes scaring their kids with stories of how God will send them to Hell simply for being who they are. The point is though I have no right to tell other people how to raise their kids (as long as they're not horribly abusing them). And that has nothing to do with me being either liberal or conservative. There are many conservatives that know how to mind their own fricking business.
Also, this character appeared in the show for all of 30 seconds and I would be blissfully ignorant that the ACTOR was also transgendered if all the ridiculous homophobes didn't predictably make such a big deal about it. It's not about liberals "celebrating" anything, so much as it is all the non-a**holes out there simply accepting that everyone is different.

Exactly!! My daughter has run around like a horsey and wants to be one so we had metal horseshoes grafted to her feet and she does nothing but say "Neigh!" and gallops to school each morning on all fours. She LOVES her feedbag at the dinner table!!
We haven't found a way to petition a judge to get her identified officially as "equine" but we have a lawyer looking into it.

The outrage Is not about the kid, it's about the parents. I might have serious reservations if I met a parent who had an 8 year old change their name and already assume another genders identity. Therein lies the controversy -Is this affirming what many psychologists see as a dangerous practice for parents (assigning a gender role too early)?
You see the difference? That's why this all could hVe been avoided by just choosing a teenager instead of an 8 year old.
Assigning a gender role too early? Was that a joke? You're assigned a gender role during the ultrasound when the tech either sees a dangler or doesn't, then verified said role after birth.
My only issue with the kid on the episode is that you really only see him for like 1 second and he doesn't talk, yet Cam and Mitch know about the kid somehow. Was a memo sent out to parents?
Nobody is "assigned" a gender role during an ultrasound. The doctors just tell you what the kid actually is. If you have a "dangler," you're a boy. If you don't, you're a girl. It's really one of the simplest concepts there are.
