I agree with you. I'm not saying people don't have a right to still like the show. That's fine for them. I keep watching because I have from the beginning and there's still a few moments that make me laugh. But it definitely feels like the writers have no idea where they're going from episode to episode. It's not original and creative anymore. To your point, in this week's episode I thought 3 times, "we've seen this plot before."
It should've ended after 5 seasons. Most shows should. Writing tends to get lazy and many episodes occur that make you wonder what the point of it was. I respect a show like Breaking Bad (obviously in a completely different league than almost all other shows) because ratings continued to climb as the show progressed and Gilligan could've carried it 9 seasons. But he had a story to tell and knew it would only take 5 seasons to tell it. He preferred quality.
I hope this show ends soon. Not because I hate it (why would I keep watching?) But because it deserves a proper send-off. For the sake of the memory of the show. We need the characters to get their respective happy endings and then end.
