As a 31 year old guy dating a 62 year old..
I gotta say, I'm loving this new plotline. Yay for more intergenerational couples on television
Less than forget. But more than begun.

Hehehehe. When I was 21 years old I dated a guy 36 years older. It lasted for over 5 very happy years. It's not common, but that doesn't mean there is anything inherently "wrong" with it. I agree with you totally. People need to just worry about their own business. No one else's.
Agreed. I have a friend who is 35 years older than me, and people ask why we're friends all the time...it's so rude! She's such a cool lady, who cares if she's a senior citizen? Should we not be allowed to be friends because we're not the same age? It drives me crazy! She's cooler than most people 50 years younger than her! I don't know why people care what other people do.
LOL, that's the end of my rant...thx for listening. ;-)
A 31 yr dating 62 yr old isn't the same thing as an 18 yr old dating 40 yr old or something. The latter is just plain creepy.
I agree that people should mind their own business and there are always exceptions. However, I wouldn't trust a guy that would want to date someone a lot younger. The connotation being the older guy taking the advantage of the younger person (again, there are always exceptions). Either way, if I was the parent, I wouldn't allow Hailey date the guy.
I knew two guys in their late or mid 20's dating someone in their late teens. Both of the guys didn't have any friends, one of the guys didn't have a phone and relied on his 19 yr old GF. Most older guys that go for someone young (from my experience) definitely lacks the maturity and would never be able to date someone their own age.
FYI, Hailey is over 18, maybe 23 or 24 by now, and can date whomever she wants...
shareIt's hypocritical to say an 18 y/o dating someone 20 years older is any worse than a 30 something dating someone 30 something years older. The age difference is less. Maturity may be a factor but the law says once you're 18 you can now vote and also be bipolar, oh and suddenly be allowed to have sex. Some people will judge and say the age difference is wrong, and some people will say love (or friendship) is what matters. No one is right or wrong because the same could be said for a 13 y/0 and a 23 y/o. Some will say it's wrong (the law) and some will say age is just a number, but a hypocrite is a hypocrite. Maturity is subjective.
For example, Manny was "mature" in the show so is it weird that an older adult female would be wooed by that if age is just a number? He had better romantic skills at 12 than most 32 y/o men.
Daddy issues can sometimes come into play but I don't see that in Haley. I see her more as finding a mature good looking guy that has the money to take care of her. Do they have anything in common? Meh
You've never heard of the age/2+7= the youngest age you can date, rule?
The maturity level between a 29 yr old and a 19 yr old are totally different. A 30 yr old and 50 yr old make sense because both of them are working and are on somewhat the same life stage. From my experience, the 20 yr olds that were dating teens were really, messed up as people. There are always exceptions but 28 yr old and 18 yr old, for example, makes me pause for sure.
A 30 yr old and 50 yr old make sense because both of them are working
You didn't get what one word was implying (although you could make it out from the context) and that makes the entire post confusing, right.

Thanks, ChocolateButt!
shareI agree with you in the sense that if the girl is very young and barely above legal age that it is suspect.

The guy didn't have a phone?!!! Oh my God! What a pervert! Probably a serial killer!
"I knew two guys in their late or mid 20's dating someone in their late teens."
I was twenty-four when my girlfriend was eighteen. We got married. That was forty-four years ago. No problems, so far.
I have a 60yo friend. She likes to go to Italy. Over there, she is treated as a contemporary. Most of her friends are in their 40's. She met a well-known pop-jazz singer and pianist, and pals around with him when he tours. Back home, she's just another quiet 60yo.
No wonder she likes to go over there. They have a different idea of age.
Is the 62-year-old friends with your parents, though? 'Cause that would be a problem for me...
I don't think I could bone one of my dad's friends knowing they're gonna go golf together or whatever
"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."

I don't particularly care about age differences, as long as the power dynamic isn't messed up. I just find it weird to date a parent's friend.

There is nothing illegal or immoral about a person of any adult age dating a person of any other adult age, as long as it's what both of them want to do. It's none of anybody else's business. If somebody thinks it's "creepy", tough shit for them.
