In my opinion it's the horrible kid actors that are ruining the show for me and they have them in far too many scenes. This show is carried by the adults and it's getting really bad to see the horrible acting from all of the kids with the exception of maybe Haley. Do they not have acting coaches to help them?
Or it's the recycled storylines that is killing this season so far.
None of them have really aged well, talent-wise, have they? The only one halfway worth the paper they write her lines on is Alex, and even she's subpar, at best.
Doubtful that any of them sees much stardom after this show ends other than some B-rate comedy or Nick Sparks teenager novel.
I can remember seeing Leonardo DeCaprio and other actors on shows when they were little and knowing they'd be around for a long time, and I don't see that happening with any of these children.
I think Sarah Hyland was always and still is a great actress but I guess technically she was never a kid, she just played one.
Still, her future career after MF dies a way too late death, I don't see her going on to much more than the schlock type b-movies she's been cast in for the last 5 or 6 years.
What is killing the show is giving every single character their own story every week. Do Joe, Lily, Manny and Luke each need to be on every single week? They have twelve people to write for every week now. No wonder the plots are so thin.

It reminds me of the old intro to everybody loves raymond where his family is going by on a conveyor belt and he lists off everyone and says "I have 2 twins and daughter but don't worry its not about the kids" to let people know oh ok this show won't be ruined by unfunny awful child actors like most other sitcoms. The kids were there only to add to the family vibe and they were in the background and never forced into shows or overused, they basically werent even part of the show most of the time, I wish other shows would follow suit.

shareIts definitely one of the biggest problems on the show. Lily and Manny are unwatchable with absolutely no sense of comedic timing or acting ability.Luke is not much better but maybe slightly. Alex and Hayley are adequate but not great. It doesnt help that they are given literally nothing comedic to work with. This show should have ended after season 3. It also makes no sense that after Alex was such a dedicated student and academic through the first four seasons,that now she just seems to hang around the house or with hayley. That just seems odd.
