I think Dr. Oz lost all credibility today...
"Medium" John Edward is on the show basically reliving his "Crossing Over" days. I thought this guy was banished a long time ago for being a fake?

I was astonished that he was featured as well. I don't know what to think.

Thank you! I was like, really, Dr. Oz? John Edwards? WTH?
shareYou're really surprised, though? He's been featuring hacks disguised as experts from the very beginning.
share@Shrewaskew - You make an excellent point! I actually wasn't aware that so many of his "experts" were total quacks. Once he had this hack on, I did a google search, and WOW!
shareI'm starting to think Dr. Oz has such a need for new material everyday that he's grasping at wherever he can get it. But my biggest beef with him is that he casually recommends diet supplements from health food stores without disclosing that sufficient amounts to be a regular part of a diet would be far more costly than most people can afford.
"Truth is its own evidence." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I think you make a good point. After all, how is he supposed to come up with something "shocking!", something "that not even your own doctor knows!", something that "you need to know that could save your life!", or the latest "silent killer!" every single day?
One of my biggest issues with him is also the vitamins/supplements he recommends. I've been a nurse for 8 years, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that people tend to be irresponsible with their medication. They tend not to keep track of them all, the dosage of them, and all of the vitamins they take. I'm willing to bet that a huge percentage of the people who watch Dr. Oz are already on at least one prescription medication. Obviously, it's common sense that drugs can interact and whatnot, but many patients are just uninformed. I feel that Dr. Oz really promotes many different supplements as "wonder" pills and that you "need" to take them. And he touts these EVERY DAY. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is taking twenty vitamins plus all of their other medications after watching him for a few weeks. (Or if people stop their medications because they decide they "don't need them.")
Plus, his diets just kill me. I'm no expert, but I know the key to lasting weight lost. It's a healthy, non drastic diet plus exercise. Voila! Is it easy? Most of the time, no. Is it going to give you instant results? Not as quickly as if you completely cut carbs/sugar/fat/evil-food-of-the-week out of your diet. I really don't think people need another weight loss supplment or diet--they need to accept that the only way to lose and keep off the weight comes down to a very simple formula = eat less and healthier, work out more often. (I know there are a variety of reasons why someone may be overweight, including food addiction, health problems, etc., but I'm speaking generally here.) Hey, some diets do work for people, but the majority don't.
