Colonoscopy Prep - So, So Disrespectful

I have to watch the Dr. Oz show as part of my job. I usually mute it because it's so ridiculous (even trashier than the countless daytime judge shows) but as someone who suffers from Crohn's disease, I thought the prep segment might be interesting.

The fact that he ate during his colonoscopy prep period is so telling about his iffy personality traits. That is one of the most disrespectful actions in medicine. It's basically telling your hard-working doctor to literally wade through your s***.

How incredibly selfish and stupid of him. I didn't like him before, but now I like him even less.

No, I'm criticizing the action itself and the reasoning behind it. I don't really adhere to the school of thought that all things are forgiven once you confess to your wrongdoing. I think the action is very telling about his overall disrespect toward his medical and scientific peers.

I love Dr. Oz, and sometimes I see set-ups. However, this doesn't stop my love for the show :) I thought that the eating of lentils was done to show people that even a little bit of food will show up and the problems it may cause. Call me a skeptic, but this is how I saw it.

honeylocs, I completely agree with you. I like Dr. Oz a great deal. I DVR his show and have seen every episode, but I saw right through this set-up as well.

First thing I thought of when I *clearly* saw the lentils was, hmmm, this man has to learn to chew his food.

Secondly, I thought, what a neat colon. No poop to wallow through, just neat, whole lentils.

And then, it clicked. Dr. Oz swallowed the lentils whole, so they'd show up better!

I also strongly believe it was a set-up just to show his audience how important it is to follow doctor's orders.
