Utterly painful to watch
Alright, I've posted a lot of comments about the cheesiness of this show, what with the unnecessarily elaborate demonstrations and game show antics. But this one takes the cookie. And I mean that literally. Episode airing 12/19/11 had a segment on healthy cookies for the holidays with a promised "special guest" to judge the best cookie between two competing bakers. And who do you suppose that special guest was???? Before Dr. Oz even announced it, the idea came into my mind, and I said to myself, "No. He wouldn't. That's just too infantile and silly. He would never." But oh yes he did . . .
That's right, folks. The special guest was Cookie Monster. Cookie Monster. A Sesame Street puppet sharing the stage with Dr. Oz, a renowed cardiothoracic surgeon. And here is Dr. Oz talking with this puppet. I cringed, I winced, I couldn't believe someone so reputable could sink so low for cheap entertainment. Doesn't he vet this crap before he agrees to do it? Is he that desperate for ratings? Is the viewship of this show of such a low mentality that they have to bring out children's puppets? The bakers looked embarrassed to be there. Oz should have been horrified.
What's going on? This is boderline slapstick. Dr. Oz is slipping from credibility into caricature.
