I don't get how anyone could watch Dr. Oz and dislike him or his show. He is doing something really wonderful for everyone. I've learned so much watching this show and I always look forward to the next show. Many of the complaints or criticisms I've seen of this show are childish and idiotic.
I believe people are negative towards Dr. Oz because it's easier to criticize him than to follow his advice.
I love Dr. Oz. I quote him all the time, and I've noticed that people perk up to listen to what I have to say when I say that I am repeating advice that Dr. Oz gave.

But it's not reality. Everything is sensationalized and manipulated for dramatic effect. A lot of it is unnecessary fear-mongering, and he is constantly trying to sell the audience on supplements and pills with little scientific backing behind their efficacy (and little regulation to be sure they are even safe in pill form). Also, it insults the audience's intelligence. The stupid demonstrations and quiz games are something you would expect to see in a 3rd grade classroom, not a television program for adults.
Actually, yeah... it is reality. I don't watch his show regularly, but I have seen enough episodes to tell you that nothing he has said should be depicted as "fear-mongering". It's up to people at the end of the day to talk to their doctors (as he always insists) before taking any supplements or pills.
He is a doctor so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about even if NOT all doctors will agree with him - just like not all scientists agree with each other.
He may indeed be a doctor, but a very specific kind of doctor. I grew up in a family of physicians. What most people don't realize is that medicine is such a broad field and requires so much specialization, most doctors have little knowledge of topics outside of their own field. An otolaryngologist will likely be largely ignorant of dermatology and a neurologist most likely doesn't know very much about gastroenterology, for instance. Dr. Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon. His expertise is limited to his specific field. He may have some knowledge of general medicine beyond that of the average Joe, but not much. As such, when he talks about topic other than his own area of specialization, his presentation tends to be highly simplistic.
