Call me . . maybe? Are you kidding me?

Dr. Oz hit a new level of schmaltz on 9/18/12 when during the last segment he decided to give his microphone to the audience to hear what they had to say. And lo and behold, a confident young woman seated just to his side stood up, took the microphone and started off a version of "Call me . . maybe" with some crafty lyrics designed to delight and entertain Dr. Oz and the viewers. Dr. Oz actually had the balls to say that he was "surprised" by this, as if the whole thing were not ENTIRELY SCRIPTED!!!

This is the main problem with this show. The schmaltzy garbage that could only appeal to the lowest denominator. The unnecessarily extravagant demonstrations and feigned empathay are bad enough to stomach, but the dancing and sing alongs are just pathetic. I don't think Travis Stork and anyone else from The Doctors would agree to such tripe.

Doesn't Oz have any say on the production of his own show???? Doesn't he see that pandering to his viewers with cutesy bits is a major turn off and really demeans him and his mission?

Get it together Oz.

What the hell is "Call me...maybe"??

It is a pop song that was dubiously named the "song of the summer" for 2012. It's gotten a lot of airplay for its innocent bubble gum lyrics. The singer is a Canadian named Carly Rae Jepsen, who was promoted by her good friend, Justin Bieber.

I don't even know what the song means. it's ridiculous -- as was Oz's "promotion" of it.

have you see this? It's hilarious:
