I did not like the 1970s version,original story is unbalanced.

This might be a well made,well acted production but my issues are with the source material,the famous book of the same title.

Of course the loss of so many young men in World War 1 was tragic but most people coped better than Vera Brittan and did not become pacifist.

I am glad that everyone in Britain did not become a pacifist 1919-1939 because Hitler would have won.

We should all work for peace but sometimes you have to fight or the bad guys take over.

The source material isn't "unbalanced". It's a memoir - it's HER story. Therefore, it can't be unbalanced. That's like suggesting that Eat, Pray, Love is unbalanced because most people don't travel the world after a divorce - this is true, but again, it's one person's story.

And I don't think it's fair to say other people "coped better". Other people coped differently. She went on with her life, married, had a family, had a great career, and worked for the public good - she did a great deal - she didn't wallow in self-pity and spend the rest of her life on the couch.
