Yet another trailer that leads you, step by step, through the film.

When, exactly, and more importantly, WHY, exactly, did this trend begin?

The producers of this film could have edited the trailer in such a way as to tease and tantalize us with a broad picture of what to expect. Instead, what they show us is the movie edited down to roughly two minutes, with significant clips and scenes shown in chronological order.

We're warned of dire consequences if we write a spoiler and don't alert readers to the fact. But how about this trailer!? It amounts to the most blatant spoiler of all!

When will the studios figure out that all this trend does is ruin the suspense, spoil the ending, and piss people off?

reply

Perhaps the fact that people can know this without even seeing the movie or trailer. This isn't a work of fiction. It is based on a memoir.

There are no spoilers with factual events. Were you disappointed to see the Titanic sink in its trailer?

reply

So you're saying every trailer that reveals too much is either based on a book or a real event? They couldn't possibly be spoiling an original script?

reply

I never watch trailers. Trailers lie, there only function being to persuade people part with their money at the box office.

reply

It's a really well know book, so it's expected that people are familiar with the plot.

reply

Agreed. It's quite irritating. We now skip trailers after about 30 seconds if it looks like something we'll be interested in watching. If it looks like something we're probably not interested in, we can make sure by watching the rest of the trailer, since most of the movie is in it anyways.

reply

I thought it was very boring. Yet, all I had to do was watch the trailer and it told the whole dang movie.
