The Ending...

Made me watch this again and pay attention. Good movie that stays with you.

There's a lot of stuff that's easy to miss on your first watch. Someone mentioned that the woman they retrieve at the beginning was most likely another alien, one that also started having emotions like Scarlett does. I figured it was just a human they abducted for clothes, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Excellent movie.

I hadn't thought f that, but it makes sense.

What we got here is... failure to communicate!

I disregarded this movie. Then as you said I realised it stayed with me. How can a movie that does this not be brilliant. So I sat and watched it again. Maybe with different eyes ! Brilliant....

the way I interpret the beginning is that the body the biker retrieves from the ditch is an alien too that suffered the same fate as the main character played by Scarlett. Reasons for this 1. They kill human males and digest them for food and they neither killed her or digested her. They simply found her and took her clothes. 2. She sheds a tear and appears to be seriously injured but not dead. She was probably injured by a man while trying to seduce him.

I think alien Scarlett starts to empathize with the condition of the human female and how cruel man can be.

I never thought of her as being an alien also, but I think you're right. I guess they couldn't leave her in the woods since someone would realize there are aliens on earth. How did they know though that she was in the woods since none of them could find Scarlett?

reply

Oh, I think that one biker knew where she was. He was just limited on Earth by time and space & couldn't get to her in time. Or, maybe he knew by then she was defective and would just retrieve whatever was left of the body.

The way he gazed over that vista, I think he knew she had died, or been destroyed if an android.

...and I'm sure he had a wonderful fate in mind for the firebug trucker!

I like to think so, anyway.

I saw this a day after having seen "Irreversible." It has a horribly violent rape scene and even more horrible perpetrator.

*** Spoiler for "Irreversible:"

The perp in that movie gets away. He should instead meet these goo people! Maybe an idea for a sequel!

reply

Irreversible is shocking in its brutality.
