Question about the gun. (possible spoiler)

Not sure if this was asked or answered yet, but why didn't Mark try to put Mark's gun on safety? Or did he and I missed it?

You mean when Dyson Frost has Demetri trapped in a chair with Mark's gun pointed at his chest? Good question. The scene seemed a little contrived to me. I think the producers wanted to work more tension into it and draw it out. Simply engaging the safety would have been too quick

That would be too easy. I'm sure the gun was rigged so that you can't use the safety on.

It seemed like it would be easiest to find some object nearby capable of blocking the bullet. like I don't know, mark taking his bp vest off and holding it in front of the gun would probably suffice?

A SigSauer P226 does not have an external safety.

Mark should have ejected the magazine and/or manually cycled the action to unload the gun.
