I have read most of Robert J Saywer's books. I first read this in 2004 and could not put it down. It was such a page turner, When I heard there was to be a TV series and RJS was involved I couldn't wait.

Why oh why was the end result such a crushing disappointment?
This must be a strong contender for the worst TV adaptation of a great novel ever.

For me, it was a case of seeing the show first and reading the novel later since TPTB were not going to give the viewers a conclusion. I found the book mind-numbingly boring.
