A modern day version of Gregory's girl?

The film is somewhat quirky (in a good way) and I just had a feeling as I left the cinema that the girls were in charge!! Obviously it is about the pressures on teenagers growing up too.

They seem very different in tone to me, "Submarine" is a lot darker, but both films have a lot of charm. Oliver is a bit of a know-all, whilst Gregory is so wonderfully clueless. I love both films and, yes, the girls do appear to be in charge - just as it should be, lol. It'll be interesting to see if "Submarine" stays the distance in the way "Gregory's Girl" has. My guess would be yes because I enjoyed the whole thing so much.

I agree that Submarine is a lot darker and with what you say about Gregory. I also think it will stay the distance. But will Richard A follow up with his Local Hero?

reply

We'll just have to wait and see what he comes up with next. A director as good as Bill Forsyth doesn't come around very often.

"Modern day"?

When was "Gregory's Girl" made, the 1940s?

Gosh! You own this topic - every thread updated in the last hour - not seen that done before. You must either really really like this film.

"You must either really really like this film..."

Or what? You realize that when you say "either" there has to be something else, right?

reply

Quite correct. I obviously lost the thread and can't remember what the alternative I had in mind was.
