I heard Alex contributed to the soundtrack [like 5 songs or something]? Anybody know any more?

shareThe end credits just had a slew of track titles, each with the same info, Alex Turner, about 10 songs by him, really good songs.
I just want my kids back.
Oh, how awesome! Can't wait to hear them.

THE THE - This is the day, your life will surely change
I'm listening to the songs right now (it's a 6 track ep), truly moving songs, beautiful. I also love the monkeys and anything to do with alex turner. I had no idea this was related to a film at all (as a matter of fact i just found out about it's existence just today) until i started to do a litle research on it; you can find this e.p all over the internet, it's great.

Beautiful songs by Alex!! He's really a genious!
I'm looking forward 'Suck It And See'!
This may or may not be controversial to say, but I think from a songwriting standpoint, this soundtrack (along with Humbug and Suck it and See) proves that Turner is in the same ranks as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and Bob Dylan. Pure poetry.
shareNot controversial to me. Turner's a fantastic songwriter.

I agree. In hindsight, I'd say I shouldn't have compared him to them because of those reasons. What I meant by comparing him to them was that a lot of his newer lyrics contain a lot of brilliant metaphors, great rhyming techniques, even some symbolism. Basically, my opinion is that he uses many of the same poetic devices they do, and he does it brilliantly. Even the Poet Laureate of the UK said his lyrics were akin to Dylan's and Cohen's on a purely poetic level. But yeah, you're right about him not tackling bigger themes and he has written songs that certainly haven't used said poetic devices, or at least not to the same extent as other songs.
