What are they drinking?

Pardon my ignorance but I know nothing about Wales or what they might drink there. Early on, Oliver's dad is sipping what looks like a glass of water with an egg white in the bottom. Toward the end, when Oliver is depressed he has the same drink. Is it some kind of medicinal drink like Alka-seltzer?

I thought they explain that it was a lemon slice in a water glass.

it was explained clearly, but people need to pay attention to movies to get the details. as opposed to ignoring the movie while texting.
