A high budget action flick based on a board game mixed with "fighting off the aliens." What the complainers where expecting, Das Boot or Battleship Potemkin? (but I guess they find those "boring". Haters will hate I guess.). Its a fun movie and pretty enjoyable if you expect just that. Fun, cool visuals, excitement.

shareI was hoping for (but not expecting... ) characters, instead of 'Independence Day' on water... Apparently you think it's too much to ask to write roles where you care what happens to the people amidst the spectacle... I remember seeing fun action movies that also had a half-decent script. I don't know why you seem to think that the two are mutually exclusive. I can get 'Fun, cool visuals and excitement' from a video game, and that's better value, because it's interactive. This was just repetitive nonsense; a cut and paste job of previous movies slapped onto a brand, because producers are scared to be original in the face of audiences whose only requirement is flashy effects.

are you kidding? this is only half a movie - there was an hour of actual movie and then the rest of the time was spent watching the navy jerk itself off. weak.
