What the hell are you people talking about?

After avoiding this movie for a long time because of the negative reviews it got, I got finally the chance to watch it today, and I'm so happy I did. Battleship was hella entertaining, the acting was regular and very normal, of course not oscar worthy performances, but the acting wasn't horrible at all! I don't understand why this movie was nominated for many Razzies, I think the actors performed great without any exaggeration, that's how you're supposed to act in a sci-fi movie, even Rihanna's performance wasn't bad at all, it was pretty good considering it was her first time acting. And I don't understand why people hated this movie besides all those complaints about the actors' performances, like what did you expect seeing the trailer? It's just like a transformers movie, with action and a lot of special effects that are supposed to entertain you. Yeah, this movie entertained me, the actors did a good job, the director did a good job, the special effects were excellent, and I loved it!

I agree; I thought this movie was extremely entertaining! You can't take it seriously, of course; it's just for fun. Much like Taylor Kitsch's other big film: John Carter. Both are under-appreciated gems.

I love this movie! Over the top fun and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

reply

Agreed! Just fun. I enjoyed it.

It's not the acting or the direction that is bad. It's the script. Any reasonably literate ten year-old could do a better job than Jon and Erich Hoeber did on this thing. The script STINKS.

reply

Agree... it's not Shakespeare but it's very entertaining! Take it for what it is.

The lead was a Charisma free and the script didn't really make clear exactly how long it took him to make Lieutenant. Also we should have been more technologically outclassed than was shown.

But other than that it wasn't as dumb as many claim. I like the fact that the aliens seem to have some strict rules of engagement in place.
