they never said 'you sunk my battleship'
i was disappointed
I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not so sure.

They said "oh no, you're not sinking this battleship"
shareand that is unforgivable. everyone went into this movie waiting to hear "you sunk my battleship". they tried to get away with a cheap imitation. total BS
shareyou must not watch movies often. no way were producers going to okay the good guys saying "you sunk my battleship". Lines like that get changed all the time in movies to the benefit of the good side..
shareno. that's not "to the good side" that's a god damned classic catchphrase, and the whole ****ing point of the movie. I wish I could slap whoever's idea it was to change the line
shareI too was really bummed that line never happened. It's been a long time since I originally saw this but I think I remember someone somewhere saying that they actually weren't allowed to say that exact phrase for legal reasons. The assumption being I guess that the original game owners have control of that phrase with regards to the original game property. I have had a few drinks and could be wrong but I do remember a conversation surfacing along those lines when it first came out.
shareIt had little relevance to Hasbro's "Battleship", except for the water displacement sensing buoy grid system used to launch missiles against the aliens. Otherwise, the reference to "battleship" seemed to have more to do with the reactivation of Mighty Mo to win the battle. I wonder who paid whom for the advertising/licensing.

I stand corrected. I took the time to watch the Special Features disc after I posted my comment. Very worthwhile. Not only did more of the ties to the game become apparent, but I enjoyed the inside look into the talent and personality of Peter Berg, the director.

Excellent point. Quite a bit of imagination went into those "pegs". I guess for the fact that they were usually fired simultaneously threw me off.
