I dont see why people hate this so much...

Reminds me a lot of independence day. Whatever happening to not caring so much about science and how smart the aliens are, and just wanting to see them get blown up? I remember in ID people bitching about the aliens being dumb enough to leave a vulnerability like that in their ship when their capable of this and that, back then I just didn't care, cause it was a fun movie. Maybe i'm just easy to please, but it was a cool action movie on my book. Just don't over-think it..

I agree....I heard so much bad about it I thought it was going to be complete garbage.

Josesergiomassa - I agree - sitting here watching the movie for the first time - it seemed to me like the Navy's version of ID4! Like ID4, you need to stop thinking and enjoy!

I don't understand movie fans these days. Do people expect all movies to be Oscar-worthy? Why on earth would somebody nitpick at logic surrounding elements in movies? I enjoyed this when I watched it in theaters and I bought the Blu-Ray last August. I had a blast watching it.

All I need is one mic...

It's a decent popcorn flick, but for me what ruins it is Rhianna. Every seen that nasty ass bitch was in was horrid.

so aliens plan to invade the earth takes place ... and they crash with a satelite??????,.,.that has to be the most stupid thing ever!!!! ,.,.,. I don't imagine that been possibkle ... I mean all the technology in the universe for that kind of ships and they can't plan on avoiding a satelite????? ,.... and just like that their plans are frustrated???? ,.,.please

there a line between movies that entertain .. and that are not to be taken seriously but this one is waaaay beynd that ...

So what if the aliens, despite being technologically superior, lost the battle? Some of you actually think the movie sucks because the aliens should put up a much better fight?

I'd like to know what you thought about the Vietnam War then. Remember that one? Where the technologically advanced US military lost against Vietnamese guerilla fighters?

Some of you people who bash this movie have horrible logic.

reply

Is ok for aliens to lose ...that is not the argument..... but come on! there are ways to make things more intelligent and believable

This wasn't meant to be a deep thought provoking film, simply a great action film to wind down with after a long day at the office per se.

This movie isn't even a flee on the ass of Independence day. Seriously... Talk about bad acting, hideous actors. The only two big names stars reduced to 15 minutes of chicken scratch. This movie blew on multiple levels it's not even silly

reply

I liked it fine. It was enjoyable enough. I like Independence day more but I don't think Battleship deserves so much hate either.

It gets a lot of hate from uptight movie geeks showing their fellow geeks how hip their movie credentials are. It happens everytime a popcorn movie comes out. These sort of movies are just gung-ho, lowest-common-demoninator type stuff and not supposed to be the next Citizen Kane.

It's a switch your brain off over-the-top action movie, and I loved it. Movies are supposed to entertain, and Battleship does exactly that. It's not supposed to be based in reality, and that's why they can stretch reality to fit the storyline. What did people expect from a movie called Battleship that had aliens in it? You and I seem to have the same attitude when it comes to movies like this, and as you say, it was a fun movie, and it looks and sounds amazing. People need to stop over-analaysing movies like this and just enjoy them for what they are. Fun popcorn movies.

I loved it. I like SCI FI theme, catastrophy on film, destroying cities and skyscrapers (as a fantasy of course). Story was ok, it is fun, watchable film. If I owned a Tv station, I'd include this to broadcast for a New Years film choice. Rhianna was great in it.
