Do navy ships have security personel?

If a ship in boarded by hostiles, do they have security guys or are the gunners and radar guys expected to pick up a machine gun and chase them down? (like in this movie)

It’s ridiculous to critique a movie with the argument 'it's not real, so it doesn't matter'

Larger vessels usually have some marines on board to serve as security, like carriers. Smaller ships use RATINGS to double as soldiers.

Technically everyone on board is required to carry a weapon if it is deemed necessary.

In port, you have a Petty Officer of the Watch at the Quarterdeck that is armed. as well as a topside rover sentry, Armed.

Additionally, there will be a Security Alert team and a Backup alert force made up from members of the Duty Section personnel, mainly Gunner's mates in charge with additional personnel with extra training.

At sea, we do not expect to be boarded, but yes, if we were, Personnel would be directed to repel them. It ain't like star Trek however with a dedicated Security Force.

I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!
