Yeah, I thought this movie kicked ass, too.
What really makes this movie work [for me] is the theory that the aliens didn't start the fight, nor were the aggressors. Plus, when the movie actually started to resemble the old Hasbro game (board, or electronic) and when they finally used a real battleship to fight. Hella felt Gung-ho at that moment.
