A short review!
Usually, movies don't make me tear up, I don't think I have cried over a movie, since The Green Mile, but there were just factors about this movie, factors which I could relate to, during to personal issues. The story line wasn't the most original, it was a bit predictive, but nevertheless entertaining.
I really enjoyed Zac Efron as this character, he/they did a great job of portraying the brotherly bond, and the love which they have for each other, and I was very emotional during the final moments between the brothers in the woods, by the cemetery.
I believe Zac Efron in general, is underrated, people probably still see him as the hunk from HSM, and they might not have genuine belief in his acting skills, but he definitely has my respect for this role, he really committed to it, and I was very impressed.
On a bad note, when you have a name in the movie, as big as Kim Basinger, you may not want to give her 3 minutes of screen time, I would've liked to see some sort of reunion between the two, surely he must have contacted his mother before he set sail for the world, especially after she left that sweet message on his answering machine..
All in all, it was a good movie, as I said, I haven't cried since The Green Mile, so yeah, though, I can't exclude that my emotions during the film, didn't have something to do with my own life, so that, plus the excellent acting, could have pushed me over the top :) In my opinion, it should have more than a 6 for rating.
