One thing the remake definitely had was a way more attractive Amy. Amanda Bearse, who played the original Amy, would go on to play the annoying, obnoxious, unattractive, mannish neighbor on Married With Children. Whenever I see her in the original Fight Night now, it just turns me off.

When you compare them, the winner for the better Amy goes to the remake. Like I said, I get so turned off now when I see her in the original Fright Night.

Appearance aside, the Amy character in the remake didn't have the same connection. There was no history, no painting of someone long gone. She was just there as a way for Jerry to get to Charlie. No relationship teasing, so no real payoff at the end. IMHO
