I'm wondering if this is an appropriate film for senior citizens
I'm thinking of showing this to my movie group which is composed mainly of women over 62...will it offend them?

I laughed out loud at your post. I hope age isn't the reason some women would be embarrassed. I feel it is what you are taught to believe is right. That's subjective in any household. Then add a majority opinion and you have society. I'm 57 and I find it funny and tragic. How men were afraid to show affection when they themselves sought it out. I laugh when men acted the same way hysterical women did but was extremely sad when they did not see the same affliction in themselves.
The ratings should indicate the type of movie, and help adults make informed decisions as to what is appropriate for minors. But some mature people believe that certain aspects of life are too private or not appropriate.
she loved poetry and romance, but she hit the glass ceiling at birth
Well, I have had one woman report me to the manager's office at the apartments here for showing unsuitable films. The films in question were MY SISTER'S BOYFRIEND and MAGIC MIKE. The manager did agree with me that the movies were not that unsuitable, but I've been leery ever since about R rated films with sexual themes.

I recommend you just show it and if that woman doesn't like what you will be showing, then she doesn't have to attend the screening. Your neighbors aren't little kids. No reason why you shouldn't show an R-rated movie to them, if you think that the theme of the movie might be interesting.

Jim Hutton: talented gorgeous hot hunk; adorable as ElleryQueen; SEXIEST ACTOR EVER
You can also give people the IMDb link so they're well informed. Some seniors are not ready for such adult themes and it might cause them to become delinquents when they grow up.
shareIt's been months since your post and I'm curious as to what you decided and the reaction of the audience.
shareNot if masturbation and womens' orgasms (and discovery, thereof) don't offend them. And I can't imagine why it would. I thought it was very interesting how the term "hysteria" was used for women who were probably just sexually frustrated. Orgasms for women, back then, were UNheard of, and actualy, Doctors removed a woman's organs! to try to appease their "dis-ease".
If nothing else, showing this film to a bunch of senior ladies will tell you who is open-minded and who is not....the discussion, after, would be fun to hear.
Good Luck!
P.S. Have you ever shown "If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium" ?
or "Harold & Maude" to them, yet?
I showed this to my mom when she was about 90. She liked the movie, she just didn't like Maggie Gillenhall, she always had a prejudice against women with buck teeth, personally, I like her very much.
If you go to a nursing home, when a man is admitted, the thundering sound you hear is all the women running to try to snag the poor guy.
Showing this film to a group, depends on the group. To an individual depends on the person, though I suspect that someone who would get freaked out by this, may have some guilty secrets.
Maggie Gillenhall, buck teeth ????????????????
share:)
shareIf they think it's risqué, I'd get a new group of friends.
