Why I loved this movie
It was so light hearted! How many period pieces are like that? I can't think of many, though I would love to hear of some.

shareagreed. only 1 dat comez 2 mind is Brite Star on life of John Keatz http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810784/.
I live, I love, I slay, and I'm content
One somewhat similar one definitely comes to mind--'Road To Welville' about Kellogg's 1900s Sanitarium. This zany flick is one of my all-time favorites, and a good reason why I so enjoyed 'Hysteria'.
shareYou might enjoy A Room with a View, I Capture the Castle, and An Ideal Husband.
shareThis movie was a lot of fun! I loved how the lighthearted approach debunked some misconceptions about female sexuality that unfortunately persist today.
shareI agree, this was a fun, light period piece (not at all sure how possible that dress Maggie/Charlotte wore to the engagement party would really have been in that time period, but I didn't mind going along with it).
In addition to suggestions others have made (especially A ROOM WITH A VIEW and AN IDEAL HUSBAND), I'd suggest IMPROMPTU and the 2002 version of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (and probably the 1952 one as well--haven't seen it yet). Also wonderful, though not quite as light (yet somehow with a light touch, with some humor and romance) is THE WINSLOW BOY, from 1999 (again, there are earlier versions I haven't seen). TOPSY TURVY is quite good too. Many others I can't think of just now, but will post later.
Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.
it was definitely on the campy side, but i was disappointed by how timid it was considering the subject matter
for my part it could have been way more out there
so many movies, so little time
