Motive for revenge

I have to admit I am not a comic book guy, but gave this a chance. Obviously the story is skewed to a younger demographic than myself, but I have one question. Deadpool's motivation was to avenge a guy that ruined his looks? A guy that cured him of terminal cancer? Or am I missing something?

He told him he could "cure him" so his motive was to capture him so he could turn him back to normal, though the Villian lied.
