Do you have to be American to get this humour?
I'm from England and really didn't get this. Is this American humour? Any British people find this funny?

shareJuvenile humor isn't hard to get.
shareI'm Swedish and I found it funny. I do find British comedy funny too so I don't know. I just like fun stuff I guess.
What is it that you didn't get?

I just didn't get the humour at all. I watched Grimsby after this and found it to be much funnier.
I'm really surprised by the really high rating, I suppose that's what I mean when I say I didn't get it.
For a supposed comedy I didn't see much humour but as comedy is subjective I thought maybe this was aimed more for American audiences.
I've noticed a lot of Americans don't get English comedy which is why they remade The Office, I was just wondering if this is your typical American humour.
I didn't actually mind this, I rated it 6/10.
You just didn't like the humor is all, had nothing to do with being american or not. I am not and i found it really funny... yet grimsby was so unfunny to me that i hardly could get through it, and one of the worst movies i have watched. But i also hate english humor, so you are definitely right on the english humor part.
shareThere was a joke every few seconds, what did you not find funny?
I laughed so hard when he whispered to Dopinder he was proud of him for kidnapping Bandhu.
Nothing was funny... don't exactly know why, as Sacha Baron Cohen is usually what i consider an exception to the rule that english is not funny (my opinion ofc.), so i was actually really let down by that movie.
shareI ended up turning Grimsby off after about fifteen minutes. I found it more annoying than anything else.
Time wounds all heels.

No. It's not rocket science and it's not a cultural thing. It's comedy.
sharewell no one chased any one around to benny hill music so it may not be your thing.
shareIt's all very subjective. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I loved Deadpool. I hated Sausage Party. I love Archer. I can't stand anything Adam Sandler ever did. Sometimes juvenile works for me, sometimes it doesn't.
I loved The IT Crowd. Never even smiled at Vicar of Dibly. Loved Doc Martin. Could do without Absolutely Fabulous. Sometimes English humor works for me. Sometimes it doesn't.
I think there are certain things you just have to be in the mood for.
I'm also English and just watched it. I thought at times it was funny, though I wasn't exactly laughing my head off, and other times it got a bit too much with the constant wise-cracking. I mean the humour was so relentless and so in your face, that it almost became distracting in a way, if that makes sense. Was sort of expecting that with Ryan Reynolds based on seeing him in other things.
I have to admit that a lot of American comedy movies don't do it for me. I could gladly go on without seeing another Adam Sandler or Judd Apatow movie in my life. Then again I did find this at least more funny than Superbad.
I think it has an obnoxious spoiled brat quality to it, and it's inherent in many American films because it's inherent in the culture. For me it is ok, but sometimes too much. I'm from the Philippines btw.

I saw it in English, I think I got 70-80% of the references.

Yes. My father loved films and I grew up watching Hollywood films. I get a lot of the references through watching hollywood films my whole life, many classic films as well. But I don't get some because I don't live there.
English films are not dubbed or subtitled in theaters here, only on TV.
