What became of the Whales?
I wonder what ever became of the Whales nicknamed Fred and Wilma after they were rescued from the Ice by the Russians since it was never mentioned.

shareFor the movie, they reached out to the whales for comment to no avail.
shareWhen the whales attempted to take the exit path, a swarm of journalists caused them to swim back. Jagged ice from the rescue effort also cut the whales, bloodying the water. On October 28, Admiral Makarov broke apart a ridge of Arctic ice that was 400 yards wide and 30 feet high. The Vladimir Arseniev cleared the icy rubble to create a large enough path for the remaining two whales to theoretically escape. After the path was cut observers could find no sign of the whales and the operation was declared a success. However, the remaining two whales were reportedly in very poor health at the time of the rescue and because radio tags were never attached it is unknown if the animals survived
shareLike every feel good tale from Hollywood the end result will be glossed over if a bad light is possible.
A Beautiful Mind did not show the shortcomings of Nash while quite ill doing almost unthinkable things in public.
In Awakenings De NIros character relapsed quickly and was forever doing things in a tourettes manner that would get you locked up anyway.
It is not possible for a feel good movie to show that the whole reason for celebration was not as pure as we are led to beleive.
Mind you it might have been interesting to have seen both these actors suddenly start masturbating in inappropriate places.
I am sure there are many more tales of heroism at differing levels which have not been fully reported.
It took a very long time for us the public to be made aware that a much loved killer whale became exactly that.
