Did they ever explain who was The Wanderer?

Season 3 had a big build up for the wanderer. He was supposed to be some sort of Dark Fae king or boogeyman. Yet throughout Season 4 the writers could never make up their minds on whether or not Rainer was the Wanderer. First he claims he wasn't and did knot know Bo. Then Hunin claims to work for The Wanderer, a rich man father to many, only for a later episode to reveal Hunin works for Rainer who was hardly the feared being he was built up to be. Then you have Tamsin claiming Rainer was not the person who hired her...who was supposed to be the wanderer. Only to then have a picture of the Wanderer look a whole lot like Rainer.

I haven't watched any of the final season yet since I catch the show on Netflix. But has the Wanderer subplot been dropped and Rainer was supposed to be the big bad Wanderer. Or is the Wanderer supposed to show up in the last season?

They explained that Rainer was indeed the Wanderer, but that the Wanderer wasn't the big bad that everyone was afraid of. At least that was what they went with in the end.

But surely there was a point to him, no? Seems like a lot of buildup only to go go, oh, that guy? Yeah, that's Todd, he's nobody really.

reply

The point of him was to fulfill a stupid prophesy to kill the Una Mens, do some other odd tasks and ultimately marry Bo so her father could be free.

So they spend a season and a half building up the Wander only for him to serve one purpose and then die ignominiously. Given how Season 4 kept jumping back and forth on whether or not he was the wanderer and never made it clear I think this truly was the worst season.
