A very worthy ending

And that feels like a hopelessly inadequate statement, even for a headline.

Episodes fourteen, fifteen and sixteen were all a beyond worthy ending of these five years, and the best ever by far.
The creators showed that they knew their own myth, which is crucial, taking stock of the past they created and using it to make the great ending. They really focused on the details and making an effort to end this the best possible way.
The ending was bittersweet. Bittersweet is good.
They also raised the stakes to a proper level. She was truly as powerful as we were promised she would be.
There wasn't a single thing they didn't address, weaving together all the different threads in excellent ways, showing themselves to be true writers.

I liked that Tamsin died. Somebody had to, in order to not make the ending too sweet. This wasn't a Hollywood ending, far from that, thank the Goddess. I liked that Isabo and Lauren ended up together, but also that Dyson would be there for her when Lauren died.

She burned her past, opening herself up for the centuries to come.

This was one ending. They left it open, in a way, for more to happen, on or off camera. I'm content if there is never another episode or movie, though.

They dragged it out a little. They could have told the same story in two or at least three seasons, or perhaps only one, but I'm not complaining.

This was, from the start a special show and continued to be so, so far removed from the usual crap. Its occasional weaknesses didn't keep that from being the case.

It's even more impressive considering the low production costs.

I think they actually turned the low budget into a strength, focusing more on the characters and the story than special effects and crap, even though I think those used are quite good.

Most characters in current stories in books, movies, television hardly seem real. These do/did. We all got to know them and know them well.

I also think it's a good thing they didn't make her Queen of the Fae immediately, but instead made it something to strive for or reject.

The writers/creator/showrunner of the final season had obviously done extensive research and watched all the episodes, a rare dedication to detail, and it paid off.

Sadly, I would agree with almost none of this.

There came a point in mid-season 3 where the actors sort of stopped knowing how to act with one another. The last three episodes of this season just made that all the more apparent. That's to say nothing of the guest actors who ALSO can't seem to act their way out of a paper bag -- I love Linda Hamilton, and the woman can act, I've seen it, but she was just dreadful as Acacia. And Roberts, ugh! All I kept thinking was, "Get away, Pedobear!" Like... the whole time! As he's rubbing up on Bo, all grotesquely whispering in her ear.

And then? The ending was just hopelessly dumb. There was very little in the way of conflict (it was all tell, very little show), and Tamsin died so we could all bawl our heads off (lazy writing), and Lauren's on-again-off-again merry go round. When will end? Please end?

I'm just so disappointed in the decline of this show. From the second Rainer stepped foot on set, to killing off Hale, to poor Ksenia Solo having to bail, to Dyson just totally losing his own identify (so much so they had to manufacture a kid for him! Yay, something else that's been done to death!!)

I don't feel the last two seasons did the there before them any favors. Hrmph!

The last 2 seasons were sh*t.

Mark's character should've never been created. I kinda understand why they wanted to give Dyson another male to bounce off on now that Hale was dead. But, why not step up Vex's character some more?

Rainer's storyline was stupid after building up the 'Wanderer's presence so much in season 3 - they did not know how to carry it through.

I pretty much fast forwarded the last few episodes of season 5 just so I could survive it. But, at least they were able to wrap up the series with a decent enough finale.

How is a 60 year old man rubbing up against a 42 year old woman a pedophile?

It was creepy in that "Get away, Pedobear," sort of way. If you don't understand that.. I can't really do much to help ya. =D

reply

Pedobear is a pedophile though. Like, 100% and not anything else. That's the whole point of it. So I don't think it applies at all there, unless you just like to throw that word around.

Okie dokie. Whatever you say. =)

i guess the ending was ok. but i don't like it that Bo's sis is now "the chosen one"

I was actually rooting for the Dark Queen. I wanted her to still destroy Hades and then take over his place. "There is only me...and EVERYONE will serve ME!" but then that never happened. big let down.

I was rooting for that myself, at least in part.
