Eric Roberts was better as the azz hat boyfriend in Star 80

Skaarsgards take on Traynor had no energy to it.
His performance was so cliched, down to the douchy facial hair. Even Val Kilmer was better as John Holmes in Wonderland as the same jerk off wannabe pimp to Dawn Schiller

dude, nobody could ever be a bigger azz hat than Eric Roberts in Star 80. He played that perfectly !

Eric was insane in that part.

Sooooo good.

I agree that Peter's performance was weak, though he did act creepy. He never really convinced me he was such a brute with her (but for one scene).
And yes, Roberts was totally convincing as the creep a** hat boyfriend.

Roberts is great in everything he's in, imho. It's hard to beat him. It's a shame he's got the reputation he has in the business of being unpredictable and difficult to work with. I think it has really limited how many offers for good roles he's gotten over the years.

Eric Roberts is a fine actor, and I will follow him to B-movie hell because he's always watchable. Unfortunately, he's barely used here, and his character is underwritten. This film is a missed opportunity overall – a fascinating story poorly told, with a decent cast who has all done better work elsewhere (especially Eric). 5/10 stars from me.
