linda said she wad forced into porn

Linda Lovelace has much to say about her pornographer: "When in response to his suggestions I let him know I would not become involved in prostitution in any way and told him I intended to leave, [Traynor] beat me up physically and the constant mental abuse began. I literally became a prisoner, I was not allowed out of his sight, not even to use the bathroom, where he watched me through a hole in... the door. He slept on top of me at night, he listened to my telephone calls with a .45 automatic eight shot pointed at me. I was beaten physically and suffered mental abuse each and every day thereafter. He undermined my ties with other people and forced me to marry him on advice from his lawyer.""My initiation into prostitution was a gang rape by five men, arranged by Mr. Traynor. It was the turning point in my life. He threatened to shoot me with the pistol if I didn't go through with it. I had never experienced anal sex before and it ripped me apart. They treated me like an inflatable plastic doll, picking me up and moving me here and there. They spread my legs this way and that, shoving their things at me and into me, they were playing musical chairs with parts of my body. I have never been so frightened and disgraced and humiliated in my life. I felt like garbage. I engaged in sex acts for pornography against my will to avoid being killed. The lives of my family were threatened."

I read the/her book years ago (it had to be 20 years ago), and I remember this passage, as if I read it yesterday. I haven't seen the movie (and don't recall seeing it in theaters), but I wondered if they portrayed her claims of being forced into this life?

Linda said a lot of things, some of which contradicted other things she had said, so who knows what was true and what wasn't?

I don't think the specifics of what happened and what didn't are as important as this: Linda Lovelace appeared to be a very confused and manipulable woman who allowed herself to be used by the porn industry when it appeared to advance her, then shifted to the feminists when that seemed preferable, then returned to porn when that seemed like the best choice. I found it odd that the latter issue was not addressed at all in this film – even in the footnote.

I think the filmmakers wanted to comply with the points of view represented by Linda's children. I do sympathize with Linda's children and family. Life was a struggle for all of them and Linda died suddenly in a car wreck. However, the sensitivity to Linda's survivors might have compromised some uncomfortable truths.

Very good point. I suspect many aspects of Linda's story were problematic because of her survivors, and the filmmakers had to tread gently around them.

The movie portrays it as she's being quite naive and manipulated by her boyfriend into doing porn, I wouldn't say it shows she was forced into doing it by any means tho.

The first half is a rather humorous look at everything then it spins around the table and you get to see that everything was not as it first appeared with menacing details of the first half they didn't show in the movie yet to give the viewer an idea that everything that was seen of the real life Linda Lovelace in the media was just a glamorous version of the not so glamorous life.

It was more after the success of DEEP THROAT that her boyfriend tried selling her around like a packet of meat.

His BF was basically a pimp, pimps use manipulation tactics to turn women into prostitutes and the difference between a prostitute and pornstar is not by much.
