They really had some fantastic music back then

Soundtrack one of the best parts of this film.

Same with the one-season TV show "Swingtown." Sets, wardrobe, hair/makeup, too.

The 1970's had character, man. Real style.

The Seventies was the last good decade. Vietnam ended. Tricky Dick got the boot. The hapless Gerry Ford and later one of the most underated Presidents, Jimmy Carter, resided in the White House during most of the decade. Musically, the first half saw rock mature into what is now called "progressive rock" while the latter half was dancing to the disco beat. Before knocking the disco era, keep in mind cocaine and Quaaludes were the drugs of choice, chics dressed to the nines when going out to the classy clubs and there was no AIDS. Figure it out for yourself, hedonism was alive and well.

i'd say the soundtrack was the only good part of this film. The music was much better then, but this film's overreliance on it showed there was a shortage of ideas about telling the story. And including songs from 1975 like "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" in scenes set several years earlier showed a disregard for authenticity.

Sadly that always seems to happen. Swingtown (as mentioned by the poster above) featured Go Your Own Way during the summer of '76 even though it wasn't released until December. It really wasn't a hit until '77....for those of us that were there, it always bothers me when they screw up the music. I can tell you where I was and what I was doing by hearing certain songs from back in the day.
