Despite being a girl, maybe because I was raised between my brothers, I've always liked F1 and watched it with my father and brothers. I can clearly remember the moment when we've heard that Ayrton had died, I was just 11 years. I think most of the portuguese fans as well as myself will never forget that day, the day a well loved legend died. I have to admit I've had to hide my tears in same bits of the documentary, it was very emotional, specially, now that I'm a grown woman and I look back and see what really happened.
Im portuguese too and i was a little bit older than you, not much. I was 15 back then and i remember every single detail from that day.
I remember the panic i felt when i saw the crash, i remember the relief when Senna's head moved a little bit inside the car after the crash, after that i remember thinking that "Senna cant die. No way he's going to die", i remember crying when i heard the news, i remember watching the funeral live on the tv and crying like i never did before.
For the first time in my life i felt a real deep feeling of sadness. It was awfull.
Senna was the only idol i ever had. After Senna's death i swear to myself i wouldn't watch a Formula 1 Grand Prix anymore. And to me, until this day, formula 1 died along with Senna. It just wasn't fair for such a wonderfull human being to die like that.
I've watch this movie and it really is beautifull. It has many footage never seen before, but even after 16 years, it's still too painfull for me to watch his accident. Even after all this time i feel the pain and i cry. I just can´t stand it.
I've never felt this way about anyone, except my parents. I just can't explain it.
To every Senna fan out there and to every Formula 1 fan, please see this movie. Its an opportunity to watch the really beautifull story of a true legend. The story of a great driver but an even greater person.
But for the accident I doubt he would had been able to stop Schumacher that year.
We do know that in subsequent years Williams had the best car and Senna would had capitalised on it. Although Scuhmacher himself was a special driver who could make the most of an inferior car.
who had the best cars after Williams? this is intriguing to me. how come they produced such a *beep* unsafe car in the one year senna drove for them. (i know they had to throw out all that electrical stuff, but couldn't they just have gone back to their previous model that was at least safe?)

Don't rewrite history just because you don't like MSC. Don't forget that he didn't win his first world title with Ferrari until 2000, five years after first joining the team so he hardly walked into a winning ride. His decision to leave the championship winning Benetton team in '95 seemed lunacy at the time, especially to join the struggling Italians.

I was 18, that day I went to Braga. First time I heard Senna was badly injured I was in a bar having a beer. Then, at the train station, the tv announced his death. Everybody quiet in respect.
