Should I watch this?

IMDB recommends this doc to me based on my ratings of other films, but I haven't seen it yet because I'm simply not that interested in Formula 1 racing or cars in general. However, I do love a good documentary, especially one that's a bit off-beat and a little on the dark side, that takes an in-depth and honest look at the individual(s). For example, I really enjoyed Crumb, Grizzly Man, and Capturing the Friedmans. And I see that it has a very high rating (8.5). Should I see this, or is it really mostly for fans of the sport? Thanks!

It's mostly for fans of the sport. But you'd find it pretty difficult to not get emotional after watching it.

Thank you for your advice. That's what I figured...maybe I'll check it out if it ever comes on TV, but I probably won't rent it. Thank you! :)

No problem. I've seen it come on tv once or twice, but I don't remember exactly what channel. I want to say the Speed channel, or it might have been on NBC's sports network channel since they show a lot of F1 races on there. If nothing else its on Netflix's instant stream on their website.

I know nothing about Formula One and enjoyed it very very much. The real rivalry between Senna and Prost beats out any rivalry you will ever see in a fictional film. I was absolutely fascinated by the footage that the filmmakers were able to gather because I honestly felt like everything was happening in real time as I was watching.

Thank you for this! Don't know anything about F1, follow only Football(the real one) but liked Rush(2013)...so I think I wud love it...was just waiting for an affirmation like this.

Answer...YES, watch it. You do not need to know anything about sports, be a sports fan or a formula 1 fan. This a story about human beings. A great one. It was profound for me...

It is biased towards senna but I love senna so I couldn't recommend it more

I hate racing, and have no interest in Formula One, but it's a thrilling and incredibly well made doc.

Every single motor sport bores me to tears. How many laps & tire changes do I have to watch? Indy 500 is a snoozefest, I don't care how fast they can drive going in Ovals, but holy *beep* this film is magnificent. The 1st person shots w/the camera in his car are absolutely amazing. When I 1st saw it, i couldn't believe it wasnt sped up. It's similar to the "Star Wars" sequence in the trenches destroying the Death Star, except this man could do it. When you want to be the best, you pay for it & death doesn't seem like it'll happen to you. Watch it even if you hate motor vehicles like I do.
