Extended Cut on Blu-Ray

My thoughts on the film itself are here:

I was wondering what people's opinions are on the extended cut on Blu-Ray?

This is what I think:

About the Blu-Ray. The incentive to buy the blu-ray rather than the DVD is the extended-cut of the film. The extra footage not quite as seamlessly integrated as the cover claims, but it's a big plus to have the option of watching these extended interviews with key players in the events. The theatrical version is much more streamlined, efficient and effective - it’s obviously the superior version. But, the extended cut is very watchable and offers a much more in-depth retelling of Senna's life and career.

Sound quality is a bit odd. The sound levels are inconsistent. By that I mean some scenes are very loud, others very quiet. Picture quality is almost irrelevant, as most of the film is TV footage from 20-odd years ago. But because the blu-ray offers the extended cut, I would recommend it ahead of the DVD.

Great post - but for me, the extended cut is the superior version. I saw both version, and both would rank in my top 10 all time favorite movies, with the extended cut slightly ahead.

I much prefer the "full" version.
The interviews were the best part of the film...and they cut them out.

Still the DVD does have these interviews, it's just they are seperate on the 2nd disc.
So it really does not matter which version you buy.

*English is not my primary langage.

I just watched a version that was about 2:30. You mean, the normal version don't have all the Prost interviews ? That would be a major letdown.

I have watched both versions and yes the 162 minute version with all the interviews included within the actual film to me is a much better watch, my only gripe is if I brought the non bluray DVD the interviews are separate from the film itself, so I would recommend the following: get yourself a Bluray player and enjoy the extended version........

Just watched the extended cut on blu-ray. This is so much a better version!
In this version, you have a more deep view about his life.

Does the North American Blu Ray release have the extended version, or are we talking about a Blu Ray release in another part of the world?

The amazon listings for this in both North America, and the UK both show a film length of 106 minutes on the Blu Ray release.

I'm also wondering ...

It's beginning to sound as if the extended version on the Blu Ray goes via seamless branching to material that would be included amongst the special features on the 2 disc Special Edition DVD set in order to extend the play time from 106 minutes to 162 minutes. Is this the case?
