The ending just didn't work here. Would have been better if there was a happy ending with the bear going to some kind of animal control drug rehab, so it can resume its normal bear life

But that’s exactly what happened. I can’t wait for the sequel when the bear is doing the 12 steps and trying to get her cubs back from the state.

That's what you get when you don't stay for the credits. The bear did resume its normal life, with its two cubs.
