A Clever Gimmick for Now: Billy Bob and Jon Hamm Never In The Same Scene, Only on the Phonee

I think they've broadcast about four episodes of Season One of Landman now, so this gimmick may soon end, but for right now it is interesting:

The show has two major male "name" stars: Billy Bob Thornton(who had a movie star career for a short while) and Jon Hamm(who, really , didn't -- cable and streaming drama seems his home.)

Still, both men have a track record, both men are stars of a certain magnitude and so far -- both men have NOT been given a scene where they are in the same room or outdoor location together, in the same frame.

They are talking to each other all the time...but only by phone. Cell phone(in the modern tradition) so they can walk and talk to each other at any place, any time, from any location. You still get the camaraderid/conflict of the two stars in conversation ("I'm your boss...don't raise your voice to me!" the more upper classs Hamm barks at Billy Bob in one conversation), but you don't get the "flavor" of seeing two stars on screen facing each other and interacting that way.

I guess ol'd ringmaster Taylor Sheridan wants to make us wait for that First Big Scene.

I doubt it will be much longer. I saw a preview clip of the two men at a table talking to each other.

I wonder when?
