About 40 million Amercan's claim Irish ancestry, 2nd only to German. In fact, illegal immigration from Ireland is only second to Mexico. So, it's understandable why Americans dig the Irish. At least, I can understand it, because I'm an American of Irish heritage.

That's sort of an odd comment. You might as well say that Americans have a fascination with Italians, too, because of The Godfather and other mafia movies.
I suspect you live in a country where everybody's heritage is essentially the same. It's just different here, where people come from all over the world.

I think the American fascination with crime films, has to do with America's long history of rebellion. It used to be westerns and bandits that Americans admired, now it's crime drama and mobsters. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

In America, all types of films are made constantly... you could go to every board and say "Americans and their fascination with EVERYTHING".
