Final scene plausibility question (SPOILERS!)

Why, with the bombing-experience he had, and the watchfulness that got him to where he made it, did he get into his car on the parking lot after the dentist appointment?

Wouldn't it have made more sense just to leave the car there or would Danny in the end have wanted to die out of free will by the bomb...to end his life, which wasn't so great at all how he tells to the kids?

I can't quite accept the fact that he kind of knowingly got into his car while someone else parks right next to his with a dozen other spots being vacant.
Unless the movie wants to state that Danny knowingly entered his car it makes no real sense. Maybe i don't see the wood for the trees as well, lol...

Undeniably though a movie worth-while seeing, especially because of the great performance by Ray "Pullo" Stevenson!

He didn't get into the car. Not in one piece, anyway.

The movie seems to stay true to the assassination of the real life Danny Greene.

I think at that stage he knew his life was over and just accepted that soon his time would come. Val kilmer warned him that the guy the NYers had sent was the real deal and didnt miss and would keep coming after him his family, wife, gfriend etc...and he knew that taking on the NY mob family was a step too far, which is why he tried to bargain his way out and ask for the 2 mill to leave Cleves...anyone in the game knows that u live by the sword and u die by it. He was kinda saying my time is up when creatively he gave the speech to the kid and handed down the chain....he was still weary when he went into the dentists and I think when he came out he knew that if not later this was prob gonna be his time, I mean he even told his hired hand to stay at home (why would you do this when u know people are gunning for you and your 2 closest aides have just been whacked). He gave the finger to the assassin as if to say I'll make this happen for u now, its my will to die now - u just pull the trigger but I stand in front of the bullet! ALways the warrior - always the proud noble irishman!

This was a mistake made by the filmmakers - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GreeneMurderScene.jpg One can clearly see there are many other cars around his and the car-bomb.

June 29th. I gotta get i shape now...

I totally agree with you, once Kilmer told him that the guy would be willing to go after his loved ones, he knew that was it. If he didn't die then he would die eventually and who know how many other close to him would of went in the meantime. So resolved himself to his fate.

If he had paid a little more attention to his teeth before ...
