Her brother, Tommy Reid, is a co-producer, and the guy who really got the project off the ground. He secured filming rights to the book almost immediately upon its publication, and did a lot of wrangling with Rick Porrello (the author) to find a company that would adopt it.
Tara used her standing in the industry (does she still have any standing anymore?) to help her brother.
