They could have spent more on advertising and marketing and it would have made more money at the box office. It prob would not have made its money back and sometimes movies do better on DVD, PPV or Blu-ray after a limited release.

I love the movie, it's not perfect, but that is part of its charm! :-)

I didn't hear of it at all. I found it by going to the video store... if I didn't see it, I probably never would have known it existed.
