First off let me say I know the movie has its flaws, and felt a little rushed. But overall enjoyed it.
But to me the scene they really should have spent maybe another 5 mins developing is the scene where Danny and his Future wife meet and have sex..
So apparently they want us to believe Danny is just a lady killer? with his extremely messed up and unflattering hair at the end of the bar reading? and she hits on him?
"he doesn't like girls" says Danny's friends
"you're friends said you don't like girls?" says cute bartender
"I guess they mean the opposite.." says Danny.. something like that haha..
cut too them banging in the alley behind the bar
wish i was that smooth. Or maybe chicks just love guys with very bad hair?
I agree with you. Even through the actor who played Danny Greene was handsome I highly doubt the barmaid would go out to a car the same night she met him too have sex, she had just given him her phone number it did NOT make sense? This was the sixties and people were more old-fashioned and then his friend taps on the window and he just leaves?! Highly unrelistic, and then he marries her? Unrealistic!
Also the scene where on thier first date that young girl comes out half-dressed that also was unrealistic, its like all these women throwing themselves at him and I do not think that was so much true in real life. The girl who played his girlfriend at the end was very miscast, she looked like she was about fourteen or fifteen, like his daughter, that was hard to believe, I like this movie a lot but parts seemed hard to believe.
*beep* like that happens all the time, but in a more realistic way.. Wear his outfit, his hair, go out to the bar and just read. maybe 1 out of 100 times you will get laid with out trying haha.
In real life Danny did get a lot of girls, so they could have depicted his skills at picking up women a bit better. Is all I'm really saying lol.
Don't forget the era of this movie is late 60's early 70's. A whole different mindset in regards to getting together with someone quickly in a pre HIV world. I also thought the younger girl later in the movie was attracted to him after she found out who he was and that he represented a powerful, local celebrity in a bad boy way. It was only two girls over a period of like ten years.
you must be slow... I never said one night stands didn't happen.. just usually they happen to someone with some game.. and the real guy the he is portraying had lots of game so they could have showed how charismatic the real guy was a bit better.. than just him sitting there reading..
being a balding weird looking dude at the corner of the bar reading and not saying much.. I just have to go out on a limb here and say that doesn't get too many guys laid haha...
I'll try that next time i'm out and see how it goes..
Don't need to be smooth. It happens to all of us if you hang out at bars enough. As to whether you can meet a keeper, that's another story... But certainly good-looking ones aren't out of the question, even for those of us who aren't at the top of our game.
