Imagine an alliance between Greene, Coonan, and Bulger

The last 3 pillars of the Irish-American mob were Danny Greene in Cleveland, Jimmy Coonan and his "Westies" in Manhattan/New York, and Whitey Bulger in South Boston.

It's known that, at the height of their respective organizations, Coonan placed a call to Bulger. While his reasoning is unknown, it's likely that Coonan considered the idea of a partnership with Boston's famed hood. Bulger's rebuff of Coonan shows that he was content with presiding over his well-insulated mini-empire without the influence of external forces. Why ruin a good thing? The Westies' "cowboy" reputation also clashed markedly with Bulger's icy, calculating demeanor and penchant for caution.

But imagine if the two had managed to come to some kind of arrangement, and brought in Greene (had he lived longer.) The possibilities of a quasi-national Irish mob are mind-boggling. Of course, it's pure fantasy; a Bulger-Greene collaboration would have been even more unlikely for the reasons stated above. Bulger would never have jeopardized the success of his operations by welcoming the heat and attention that came with Greene and Coonan.

La Cosa Nostra managed to consolidate power all through the United States, and if there was ever going to be something similar for the green dons, these 3 would have been the ones to see it come to fruition.
