I'm actually really pissed off at the way it ended...[SPOILERS]

I'm really pissed off that Joanna ended up with Will at the end. I don't believe that Joanna really changed, nor do I believe she really loved Will. Just because Marni saw them holding hands at the hospital, that was enough to make her realize she should throw them a wedding? I bet as soon as the honeymoon was over, Joanna goes back to her old ways and starts in with Marni again. Also, I just don't understand how Will could forgive someone for the way she treated his sister. My brother would NEVER marry someone who treated me like sh*t both in the past and present! My family wouldn't condone it either!

Lol! I get what you mean. She was acting all sneaky saying things like "who do you think he's going to believe?" At some points it seemed she wanted to change, but she came off as fake because she would start acting the same way again. You could say that's the only way she knew how to react (to get her to keep her secret) but if she had to fall back into the bully routine then she still has some growing up to do.

Maybe they tested the original ending and changed it because the group who saw it didn't like. I don't know but in the first half of the movie I had a feeling that it was going to be revealed that she was just doing it to get back at his sister for something or because she was jealous of her new life. That's how it played in the beginning and I fully expected it, but I could see where they were going with it after a while.

Rest in peace Peter Falk, you will be missed.

Exactly. I mean sure, maybe in the end she grew up and legitimately changed, but we cannot possibly know that from watching a 2 hour movie. I really wish they didn't feel the need to give these movies a happy ending. I felt like Disney was sending the message that evil can win after all. I mean, even Marni's parents magically forgave her. Even if my brother STILL wanted to marry the girl who made my life in high school a living hell, I know for a fact that my parents would probably disown him and her.

Most parents for sure would let her/him know how they felt about the situation every time they saw them. Like my mom might be cordial but she surely wouldn't like the little scamp. My mom has this way of being polite but letting you know you've screwed up. It's the little things, the little details that you don't even notice until a person cuts you off and you realize it's just not the same. I mean, I don't see how a parent could trust someone like that in the first place. Wait...this was Disney?

P.S. I have to say I'm guilty of doing what's in your signature as well b/c I used to read everything and I got tired of reading signatures so now that I have one (usually) I tend to skip over them.

I think for the longest while she didn't change. The Queen song, the necklace, the dirty comment in the bathroom at the rehearsal dinner, she still hated Marni.

I think once she realized what a horrible person she was, then she changed.

I don't think Joanna changed one bit. I was greatly disappointed by this movie. What a stupid ending. I rated the movie one star. I would give it zero stars if I could.

So she pigged out on junk food and cried on her fiance's parents floor because???

I didn't like the character either, but you guys are in a little bit of denial over her actions. If she hadn't changed at all, they would have made that pretty clear. Just like how they did with a few of her shots at Marni before it all blew up.

Hated the ending also would have been great if the broken up for good and MOO won the war

reply

Moo did win. She exposed Joanna. She just felt bad about it because it hurt her brother.

I wish she didn't have to hurt her brother but he was the one who fell for the high-school bully....it's Joanna's fault for lying to everyone anyways.

I think it indeed strange her brother didn't know about it, but in this story he didn't. If he would know he never dated JJ. But I think that JJ changed after her parents died (like she said in the movie) Although i don't know why she didn't just say " sorry for the whole high school thing" later when they were alone, you could see she was not the same bully as she was before. Do not forget that Marni only wanted to get even with JJ. Even before she arrived at her parents' house. And of the two characters I often liked JJ more. Marni looked and acted like a kid. I know bullying is wrong, but everybody deserves a second chance. So instead of let them break up I liked the idea of the ending of the movie. SOme people grow and develop a nicer character. And I think JJ did just that.

well, its believable he didnt know about it even in a small school. I went to a small school everyone "knows" everyone but they dont know everything that goes on. The younger kids know the seniors but the seniors dont necessarily know the younger kids. Will probably knew Marnie and her friends (if she had any) and probably the younger guys on the team, but its not likely to have gone beyond that. J.J. was obviously in love with him, but he didnt know who she was.

Anyways, I think its unrealistic that she was bullied as much as she was with him still in the school though. If he was as "popular" and loved as they made him appear to be. the jocks and or cheerleaders would not have been tormenting his sister.....

This message is old but I have to reply.

You actually believe in a small school (or any school) a member of the basketball team wouldn't know a cheerleader? Especially since both are very popular!

Just for the record, I'm not a Dude, I'm a Dudette!

Thank you, someone who actually agrees with me.

Because she felt sorry for herself for getting caught.

reply

The whole thing would have made more sense if Marni and her brother both went to private non-coed schools, then the chance of him knowing would be much less.

reply

I really agree with you. I think that she genuinely did love him and was upset that she ruined their wedding. I don't think she's learnt to deal with obstacles any better than when she was a snotty teen. And no, if my brother had seen that his fiance had thrown plates at me and then poured a thingy of soup over my head: she would be kicked to the curb for being crazy. Seriously.

I hate how they see her melt down and be all "oh no I'm mean because I panicked" because it doesn't show us that she's learnt how to react like less of a cow.

reply

Yeh, but if the bully looked like Odette Yustman then I really wouldn't care. Stunner
